Challoner Ville

modeller:  Norman Beaumont

Challoner Ville is a ficticious location on a GWR branch line "somewhere in Shropshire".  The name was chosen by my wife - this being her maiden name.  Other names on the layout are also family names and can be seen on the various buildings and features.

The layout has been built to show people how a layout can be built using standard, readily available parts.  The track is Peco code 100, the points are live frog (except the double slip) and are operated using H&M point motors.

Station buildings are by Peco.  Cattle dock, coal staithes, oil depot and signals by Ratio.  Goods Shed, vicarage, market house and church are Superquick.  Signal box is by Dapol.  Shop, houses, public house and milk depot are Metcalf and the garage is by Wills.  The background scenes come from Peco.  The people are a mixture of Model Power and Merit.  The post box, sun dial and gas cylinder are Langley Models.

This layout was featured in the July 2003 "Railway Modeller".
